I used to think that I was a lost cause, that I was so broken I couldn’t be fixed. Even after surrendering everything to the Lord, I still had thoughts of doubt that I could be fully healed in the back of my mind. I spent 16 months in jail and upon being released I was determined to never return and to begin again. Although I made a small detour, I would up in Noblesville at LifeHouse Sober living. Within the first week, I knew God had again, placed we exactly where I needed to be. LifeHouse requires the ladies living there to participate in Ignite trainings twice a week. Going in, I just didn’t know what to expect, but as soon as I went, I felt at home. The ladies at Ignite were so welcoming! I had so much shame and regret for the things that I had done during my addiction and had been judged by so many, I never expected to feel so welcomed by strangers, but I was! Ignite has been a major part of my story of recovery. For the 6 months that I was in LifeHouse, I was there twice a week with Bev. During those 6 months, I was given the opportunity to become one the Ignite program participants. I was partnered with Bev as my trainer and with Melanie as my counselor. These ladies are now two of the most important people in my support circle! I have now been with the program for over a year and even though I am not always able to meet with Bev because of my moving, I know she is always there if I need her. Ignite showed me that my past doesn’t matter, no matter what it is, as long as I am trying today. I have made connections that are extremely important to me and that will last a lifetime. The support me in all that I do, even with me having moved a distance away, they are still there! Ignite also helped me heal a lot of the shame, guilt and hurt that I still had inside. Not only through support, friendship and counseling but also through faith. I have been blessed to have completed 3 bible study programs through Ignite that has only brought me healing and made me closer to the Lord. I am truly blessed to have had the opportunity to be a part of their program, it helped to change my life. I stand today over 3 years sober. I now work in the recovery community as a recovery coach, providing for others, what these ladies provided for me, love and connection.
